Purpose of the job

  • To design, develop, document and support the use of the Ocorian business process management (Appian) solution to help deliver high quality and consistency across data, processes and reporting in all business areas and jurisdictions.
  • To identify, harness and combine the Group’s technology platform components with the BPM solution in a robust, secure and cost-effective manner to drive profitability through the creation of effective and efficient high-performance solutions for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Where required, to carry out data analysis, data migration, consolidation and application integration related to the BPM solution and Ocorian's core business applications. These will be a mixture of on-premise and cloud-based applications and a part of this role will also include interfacing with internal and external services.
  • To identify and liaise with all relevant stakeholders in the design, creation and testing of standardised workflows.
  • To ensure that solutions and integrations produced comply with Ocorian's information security model, controls and procedures.
  • To work with and support other workstreams in the Integration programme as well as the Business As Usual (BAU) application, development and project teams.
  • To produce and maintain clear and succinct systems and integrations documentation. Where bespoke custom development is required, this role will produce clear specifications, including use and test cases, for developers working in an Agile DevOps oriented development environment and ensure appropriate quality testing.

Main responsibilities

  • To be a key source of expertise on the implementation and utilisation of Appian within Ocorian.
  • Carry out process, application and data analysis across legacy and new line of business applications including NAVOne, iManage, FinScan, banking systems, etc or internal data warehouses. This includes working with colleagues in Operations, IT and across the business to identify and efficiently achieve the necessary objectives.
  • Where necessary specify and, in conjunction with the Development team, deliver application integration, data exchange and data migration between line of business applications and external services including drawing up specifications, developing integration or migration scripts including unit testing, support for user testing where appropriate and documentation of all interfaces. External services may include Client Portals and Tax / Regulatory reporting sites etc.
  • Optimise the capture of core client data into the appropriate applications through the BPM platform to support the compliance and risk reporting models consistent with Group standards and initiatives.
  • As required, work with the Business Process workstream and IT to develop and implement cross-application core standard workflows that deliver standard business processes across all jurisdictions.
  • Where required, work with the Reporting workstream to design and deliver reporting for technical and business users, either via standard platform or bespoke reports using the BPM platform data.
  • Work with the Head of Integration to maintain project tracking for regular project reporting.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • This position requires a strong skill set covering system analysis, data analysis, data management, reporting, planning and business intelligence as well as operational and risk knowledge. It also calls for a high level of cross-jurisdictional business awareness together with a firm understanding of the fiduciary, funds and administration services offered by Ocorian.
  • Minimum of 3 years Appian experience as well as experience of application integration tools and techniques, including a firm understanding of information security and compliance processes, preferably in a fiduciary or financial services business.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the following would be useful: TrustQuay NAVOne, iManage, Microsoft SQL/SSRS/SSIS, O365, SharePoint, Teams, PAXUS, Salesforce CRM; FinScan / Sentinel; application and data integration and automation particularly based on web services, Alteryx and UIPath.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial accounting and reporting would be an advantage as would Microsoft SQL skills.
  • The postholder must be quick and clear thinking with the ability to devise innovative solutions where appropriate and with the self-motivation to tackle tasks independently where required. The ability to work logically and efficiently is essential.
  • Excellent people skills to include a high level of integrity, strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure. The role involves interactions at all levels of Ocorian and with external parties, so a personable nature and good communication skills are highly necessary.
