Executive Legal Secretary

The Professional Support Department acts as a central resource for Walkers lawyers across the globe, providing them with the necessary tools to increase productivity and enhance service delivery. This includes access to the latest precedents and know how, and updates on legal developments providing for consistency of approach, commercial awareness and the maintenance of technical excellence on a global basis.

This position will report directly to the Professional Support Lawyers in the Professional Support department and will be required to provide secretarial and administrative services to the PS department, working as part of a team delivering legal support services to a high standard. This position requires high technical ability, excellent attention to detail, the ability to show initiative and the organisational skills required to perform several diverse tasks in a time critical environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide secretarial services to the PS department including but not limited to: house-style; assistance with document preparation; document conversions; and maintenance of know-how and information libraries.
  • Conduct legal research in accordance with instructions from relevant lawyers or the Professional Support lawyers.
  • Update various documents and precedents for any practice area in accordance with instructions from relevant lawyers or the Professional Support lawyers.
  • Maintain various databases with accurate and up-to-date information and apply appropriate metadata where relevant.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 2 years’ executive legal secretarial experience.
  • Exposure to a variety of practice areas within a legal environment preferred.
  • High technical ability and the aptitude to quickly learn new systems / software is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required and experience in document management / production programmes preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, project management capabilities, as well as the ability to prioritise tasks and projects to meet work standards and personal performance targets.
