About the Wealth People and Organisation (P&O) Consultants team

The Wealth P&O Consultants work proactively and closely with P&O Leads, P&O Centres of Excellence and the People Consultants in Investec Bank to build systems, organisation and people capabilities in the business.

We are aligned to the Wealth business, but not to any specific area. Instead, we cluster around specific pieces of work across the whole of the business, giving us a broad knowledge and solid relationships and network.  We are agile and commercially minded which means that, in turn, the work is varied and rewarding.

Description of role, purpose and key responsibilities

Through a strong alignment with the business and robust relationships with our leaders, the role provides proactive and trusted interventions and insights into the Wealth culture and strategy.

In a nutshell, we help to implement the business strategy from a P&O perspective. This is done by working closely with other teams across P&O: (OD, Reward,Careers, Employee Relations, Learning and Development, People Services), and centres around diagnostics, contracting, managing a portfolio of interventions, continuous evaluation and learning in support of the strategic objectives.

It requires a strong commercial understanding of the organisation, its strategy and clients, with an ability to spot P&O interventions that contribute to the value and success of the business.

What are we looking for in you?

• Be a confident influencer and relationship builder.  You should be comfortable working with Executive members as part of your daily role.
• Enjoy being part of multi-disciplinary project teams working alongside business leaders and colleagues from different functions.
• Be curious about our business, and always thinking about how we can improve both the employee but also the client experience.
• Understand the importance of Culture, and how we as P&O contribute to enhancing and upholding the Culture we want.
• Be agile and responsive to the changing needs of the business.  Have an understanding or existing experience of operating model changes and how P&O add value in that work.
• Understand how to build a good network so that you are in tune with what's going on in the business.
• Be prepared to work outside your comfort zone; in Investec the learning is through the work.
• Be positive, tenacious and not afraid to try new initiatives.  Understand when to ask for help, and work in a collegiate way with your partners.

Any other attributes that would be helpful, but not essential for the role.

Financial services experience is not needed, but you should have experience of consulting directly to the business.  Experience of working with senior leaders and Executive members would be advantageous, but not essential for the right person; we are happy to continue your development with us.

There will be some travel when needed – we have 14 offices across England, Scotland and Ireland and like to connect with them regularly.
