The States of Guernsey are looking for a Business Executive to join their team at Business, Innovation and Skills.

The Business Executive will be responsible for contributing to the research and implementation of economic initiatives and projects, and ensuring that development projects are delivered on time and within budget. The post holder will have responsibility for a varied portfolio of work related to development and implementation of the States’ Economic Development Strategy.

The post holder will be required to provide a professional research and analysis as part of a dynamic team under the direction of the Director, Business Innovation. It is expected that the post holder will quickly obtain wide experience working across the economy (ranging from the finance sector, to the emerging digital economy to the real economy).

The Business Executive will be responsible to the Lead – Competitiveness and Economic Connectivity but will also work closely with other lead officers in the Business, Innovation & Skills Team and the wider organisation. He/she will have regular contact with politicians, senior officials, and various other staff members across the States of Guernsey working on economic development issues that will directly impact upon the future of the Island.

Appointment to this role will be subject to the following pre-employment checks which will be completed following an offer of employment:

  • Satisfactory references which must include one from the candidate's current line manager
  • Satisfactory, Basic Police Check, which can be obtained, at the candidates own expense, from the Guernsey Vetting Bureau, New Jetty, White Rock, St Peter Port, after an offer of appointment has been made. Convictions likely to be considered relevant to this post include crimes involving, but not limited to, theft, violence, dishonesty, fraud, vulnerable individuals and children
  • Confirmation of required qualifications / registrations
  • Possession of a valid Employment Permit

Should the successful applicant not meet the requirements sufficiently he/she may be appointed at a lower grade than stated. The successful applicant would then have the opportunity to progress to the grade advertised once the necessary skills and knowledge have been developed and they have demonstrated the ability to undertake the duties at the higher level.
