Discretionary Fund Manager

What will you be doing?

Provide high quality, professional portfolio management services to a range of direct private clients and clients of financial advisors and provide high quality advice to investment managers.

Work alongside IMs and IW&I Investment Research Office (IRO) to construct and manage team models.

  • Run weekly investment meeting
  • Idea generation
  • Due diligence on any non-researched holdings
  • Maintain records of investment decisions
  • Detailed reports on performance of models
  • Attend research/fund manager/company meetings and convey key messages to the team
  • Liaise with research to convey team thoughts and ideas
  • Manage and maintain market related Powerpoint slides for presentations

Day to day running of existing/new clients:

  • Running of live client portfolios in line with model portfolios, including regular position management to ensure consistency
  • Cash raises
  • Investing additional cash
  • Investing cash for new portfolios
  • Management of annual ISA subscriptions
  • Managing CGT considerations
  • Construction and management of bespoke portfolios to address client specific restrictions
  • Ensuring client portfolios comply with ongoing suitability requirements
  • Dealing with decisions on corporate actions, where required
  • Writing of quarterly investment report

And in the long term?:

  • Guide, motivate, develop and manage other team members

What are we looking for?

  • Role will require the level 7 CISI Chartered Wealth Manager qualification, CFA or Chartered Accountant (ACA).

  • To act with integrity at all times and embrace the philosophy of treating our customers fairly

  • Regulatory Knowledge as applicable to role

  • Experience of performing similar role (ideally c5 years but flexible)

  • Present information in a structured, logical way

  • Communicate effectively to larger groups

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills

  • Keen interest in asset markets, and investments in general

  • Communication skills necessary to interact effectively with team members and clients

  • Enthusiasm and motivation to learn and be successful

  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
