The States of Guernsey is looking for a Learning Technologist to join the Grammar Schgool and Sixth Form Centre with effect from 1 February 2023 or sooner for 20 hours per week 39 weeks per annum.
The Learning Technologist supports the overall aims of the school to develop an inclusive, supportive and challenging culture for both staff and students, within a safe and secure environment providing expertise in ICT to assist staff in the classroom and teaching areas of the school. The Learning Technologist will be an essential member of the support staff and will work as part of a cluster-based service of highly skilled learning technologists to provide direct support for staff and students on the site. The Learning Technologist will be expected to work collaboratively across the Secondary School Partnership in the pursuit of excellence for all, professional support and continuous improvement. The Learning Technologist may occasionally be required to work across more than one site to ensure that the needs of students are met at all times.
The States of Guernsey recently agreed its vision for secondary and post 16 education on the island. This new vision will see the further development of the Secondary School Partnership and the reorganisation of the current educational estate into three 11-16 schools and a new purpose-built Sixth Form Centre. This will form part of a post 16 campus co-located with the Guernsey Institute.
Currently Les Beaucamps, La Mare de Carteret, St Sampson’s, and the Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre are the four States’ secondary schools in Guernsey. The schools form the Secondary School Partnership which is led by a unified Executive Leadership Team and works in Federation with St Anne’s School in Alderney.
We expect our staff to make a full contribution to the ethos, identity and life of the school, offering a commitment to the broad range of enrichment activities that are available. The person appointed will be committed to the role in the context of the Secondary School Partnership and the transition to the new secondary school model.

Should the successful applicant not meet the requirements sufficiently he/she may be appointed at a lower grade than stated. The successful applicant would then have the opportunity to progress to the grade advertised once the necessary skills and knowledge have been developed and they have demonstrated the ability to undertake the duties at the higher level.
The States of Guernsey and the Committee for Education, Sport and Culture is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all employees and unsupervised volunteers to share this commitment. The post holder will therefore be required to undergo an Enhanced and Barred List DBS check and is recommended to be registered with its Status Update Service.
