Team Description

This role sits within REALIS, Investec's recently launched and fast-growing real estate equity strategy. The REALIS team is a close-knit, entrepreneurial team sitting within the wider Real Estate business. As part of REALIS' expansion, there is a requirement to drive equity capital raising, investor relations and business development.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will form an integral part of the REALIS team and be a key part of its success. His/her primary role will be to serve as the chief liaison between REALIS and Investec's other business units, including private banking and wealth management (Rathbones), with a view to foster and expand the pool of investors interested in Real Estate investments. It will also assist in developing strategies to raise external capital from family offices and institutional investors. This will require the development of a clear strategy, with agreed milestones and buy-in from senior stakeholders.

Role responsibilities include:

**Investor relations **

  • Engage directly with existing and potential investors to provide an overview of the REALIS opportunity and identify when to involve REALIS' management if necessary
  • Work in partnership with our administrators and marketing teams to enhance REALIS' investor reporting solutions
  • Have sound knowledge of the real estate market as well as macro-economic and geo-political environment to help with investor interactions
  • Develop strong, long-term relationships with HNWI, family office and institutional investors

Business development

  • Work collaboratively with Investec's other business units to drive new investor acquisition and facilitate timely introductions to prospective investors
  • Ensure you have an active sales plan that is constantly reviewed. It must be aligned to the needs of our target market, drive business growth and be focused on good investor outcomes
  • Own all CRM data regarding prospective investors and follow up all leads efficiently
  • Collaborate with REALIS management and marketing teams to increase awareness of the product both internally and externally.

Strategic development

  • Engage with senior Investec leaders to access their networks for introductions to ultra-high-net-worth individuals, family offices and institutional investors.
  • Collaborate with the wider Investec group entities to adapt the offering to different jurisdictions in which Investec operates (UK, Channel Islands, Switzerland, South-Africa, UAE).
  • Develop and drive strategies to raise institutional capital and establish strategic partnerships with wealth managers and third-party introducers.

Core Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent networking and relationship management skills, with the capacity to perform under tight deadlines.
  • Solid knowledge of the real estate market across multiple asset classes. If no pre-existing knowledge, have the appetite and capability to upskill fast.
  • Ability to work effectively across teams within the bank and drive referrals across the business.
  • Strong commercial acumen, takes initiatives, has a proactive can-do attitude with the ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Excellent presentation capabilities for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Has excellent business development skills with ability to work in an efficient, systemic way
  • Empathy, emotional intelligence and the ability to build strong relationships
  • Understanding of relevant compliance considerations and the regulatory environment (compulsory).
  • Commitment to acting with integrity and embracing the philosophy of treating investors fairly (compulsory).

Additional Attributes (Helpful but Not Essential)

  • Professional Qualifications: ACA (or equivalent), CFA (fully qualified), or RICS qualifications would be beneficial but are not required.
