Head of Investec Asset Finance, Channel Islands

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the Asset Finance Channel Islands (offshore) business based in Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man as part of the Investec Asset Finance Group (AFG), which forms part of the wider Private Client Group. The business is responsible for providing asset finance products across the motor vehicle, marine, aviation and business finance space, for companies and high net worth individuals.

What will you be doing?

• Set, implement and manage the strategic direction of the business, aligned with AFG and IBP risk appetite and strategy framework
• Day – to - day management of the performance and development of the IAFCI team
• Actively manage the development of the portfolio in line with overall growth aspirations and quantitative targets agreed by AFG ExCo in relation to return on equity, cost to income ratio, revenue growth, and profitability
• Ensure the business operates a rigorous performance management and reward structure, aligned with Investec's culture and approach. Develop and review performance objectives and KPI's
• Develop, manage and grow an inclusive culture and high performing leadership team, in alignment with the broader AFG and IBP culture and values
• Provide values-driven leadership, ensuring an environment where the fair treatment of customers and care for staff is considered important and demonstrable for performance
• Represent Asset Finance CI at relevant governance and risk forums, with local regulators and IAFCI Board, as well as at industry conferences and tradeshows
• Facilitate the team's origination, deal execution and business segment development in conjunction with AFG
• Support the team and lead in engaging with prospective clients to understand a potential client's affairs, identify opportunities and generate leads and introducer strategies with other client segments and wider Group
• Effectively manage communication with all stakeholders, both internal and external, as well as represent Investec in Channel Island communities
• Ensure that all business is conducted in accordance with agreed risk metrics and the good standards or regulation, law and practice of appropriate regulators in each jurisdiction it operates
• Contribute to the leadership and strategic decisions of AFG and PCG through AFG ExCo and PCG leadership forums.

What are we looking for?

• To act with integrity at all times and embrace the philosophy of treating our customers fairly (compulsory)
• Regulatory Knowledge - deep understanding of relevant compliance incl. related to UK retail vehicle finance, the regulatory environment and appropriate processes, procedures and their implications (compulsory)
• Leasing and asset finance knowledge, especially of key markets and asset classes and relevant credit skills.
• Provide leadership aligned with Investec values and principles, incl strategic thinking skills, clear presentation, and effective decision-making while being prepared to challenge status quo in a mature market.
• Strategic people management incl. coaching & people development & Assessment (compulsory for Managers and Supervisors)
• Commercial acumen, entrepreneurial flair and relationship management skills (internally and externally)
• Good credit skills and risk consciousness, be able to identify and manage material business risks and understand risk-return relationship to ensure pricing reflects the level of risk inherent in the portfolio
• Broad knowledge of relevant Investec businesses and a strong internal network
• Learning Agility
