The States of Guernsey are looking for a Court Security Officer to join the Royal Court. This is a permanent and part time position (working hours will be 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday each week).
Court Security Officers are responsible for the high level of security required within the Royal Court building. They operate a range of security systems along with the enforcement of policies and procedures to provide for the safety and security of all Court users, including the Judiciary, Jurats, States Members, staff, members of the public, witnesses and defendants, and to safeguard the building. The post holder will also provide administrative support in relation to court usage and court security.
Court Security Officers also fulfil the roles and responsibilities of a Deputy Sheriff at sittings of the States of Deliberation and the States of Election, as well as playing an active role in ceremonial occasions. Further, the post holder will be sworn in as a Division 'A' Special Constable.
There is opportunity to assist with on-call responsibilities and occasional overtime, weekend and bank holiday working is required.
Law Enforcement Vetting:
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Law Enforcement Vetting Form. If you are successful after interview, the form will be sent to you via email along with your offer of employment, and must be completed and returned, in person, with relevant photo ID, to the Recruitment Team, Sir Charles Frossard House.
In order to satisfy residency criteria you need to have been resident in the UK or Guernsey for a period of 3 years. The calculation of the period of time refers to the period immediately before an application is made and not any other period or accumulation of time spent in the UK or Guernsey.
