Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Providing expert legal advice and representation to clients on a broad range of dispute resolution matters, including commercial, regulatory, banking, trusts, insolvency, negligence, and matrimonial disputes.
- Managing a varied and complex caseload, running independent matters while assisting on larger, multi-jurisdictional cases under the supervision of senior lawyers and partners.
- Conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and preparing for court proceedings.
- Engaging in courtroom advocacy and representing clients effectively in the Royal Court of Guernsey and other relevant tribunals.
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
- Participating in business development initiatives to strengthen the firm's market presence and attract new clients.
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of legal precedents and internal procedures.
Skills / Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister of England & Wales with 2-10 years of post-qualification experience in civil and/or commercial litigation. They will have strong advocacy skills, ideally with experience appearing in court. A proactive and confident team player, they will possess excellent analytical abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage complex legal issues effectively. A commitment to business development and growing the firm's client base is essential. The successful candidate should be willing to qualify as an Advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey.
