Accounting, Commercial Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Manager to take charge of financial planning and control within Capital Expenditure (Capex) and designated Operating Expenditure (Opex) across the business. This pivotal role will empower you to support strategic decision-making through high-quality financial analysis and insights. The successful candidate will oversee Capex processes and deliver impactful commercial support on both Capital and Operating Expenditure, making a significant contribution to the organisation’s financial health. Job Duties:
Act as the finance lead for Tier-1 capital programmes, collaborating with project managers to shape scope, phasing, and delivery to maximise NPV/IRR and payback. Own and manage the Capex portfolio budget, cash flow phasing, and provide robust gate reviews and decision packs. Develop and pressure-test business cases, ensuring KPIs and benefits ownership are clear and measurable. Complete post-implementation reviews for all Tier-1 projects to quantify benefits against business cases and implement recovery plans where necessary. Ensure month-end Capex accounting is accurate, maintaining ledger integrity and timely closure. Take ownership of designated Opex lines, delivering precise monthly accruals, budgets, and rolling forecasts. Conduct cross-functional spend reviews to produce trend and unit-cost analyses, identifying optimisation opportunities. Partner with Procurement to negotiate terms with key suppliers and support RFPs while quantifying savings. Generate ad hoc reporting and dashboards for Capex/Opex performance, maintaining variance analysis and running scenario assessments. Serve as a proactive finance business partner, influencing and guiding project managers and senior stakeholders effectively. Deliver timely submissions to Group with variance commentary and insights, ensuring strong governance and audit readiness. Hold the Capex pipeline, benefits register, and savings tracker to the highest standards of documentation and evidence.
Job Requirements:
A professional accounting qualification and membership of a recognised professional accounting body or significant hands-on accounting experience. High proficiency in systems, IT, and Excel. Strong project and time management skills. Self-motivated with excellent organisational abilities and a team-oriented mindset. Proven ability to analyse situations critically and provide proactive solutions. Experience in interpreting and presenting financial information effectively to non-financial audiences. Energetic, enthusiastic, and an effective leader. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
