Our client is looking for a Senior Operations Engineer to take a lead role in maintaining and supporting cloud services infrastructure. This is a hands-on position working with cutting-edge technologies, balancing day-to-day operations with project delivery, and playing a key part in ensuring systems remain secure, compliant, and reliable. This is a full-time (37.5 hours hours per week), permanent position that provides the opportunity to take a lead role in projects and guide junior colleagues.

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Managing VMware vCloud, vCenter, vSphere, NSX, storage, and associated technologies.
- Supporting Linux, Windows, SQL, and other infrastructure systems.
- Providing consultancy on infrastructure technologies, including onboarding of cloud services.
- Leading troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex technical issues.
- Managing third-party vendor relationships and escalating support cases where needed.
- Contributing ideas for continuous service improvement.
- Creating and maintaining documentation for systems and procedures.
- Guiding and mentoring junior team members in specialist areas.
- Liaising with customers and prospects on design, migration, and backup/DR strategies.
- Ensuring compliance with licence, regulatory, data protection, health and safety, and information security requirements.
Skills / Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years' experience in an infrastructure or service provider environment, with strong knowledge of virtualisation, storage, networking, and security technologies. They will hold associate-level qualifications such as CCNA or VCA, and ideally be working towards or already hold professional-level credentials such as VCP or CCNP. Experience with Active Directory, DNS, backup and replication technologies is essential.
The successful candidate will be customer-focused, an excellent communicator, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively. Experience with ITIL, ISO27001, or PCI-DSS would be advantageous, alongside strong organisational skills, initiative, and the confidence to advise clients directly.
