About the Role:
The States of Guernsey are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join Frossard Ward as part of the Midwifery and Paediatrics Service.
Frossard Ward is a general paediatric ward, providing acute hospital healthcare for any child within the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Patients from birth to 18 years of age are admitted onto the ward, therefore the nurse's care for children with diverse healthcare needs. The post holder will be required to have the ability to respond in an empathic way to the needs of children and their families.
The post holder will assist the qualified nurses in tasks such as preparation and serving of meals, maintaining ward stock levels and cleaning of equipment. Under the supervision of the qualified nurses, the post holder will:
• Provide care for children admitted to the ward.
• Assess, develop, implement and evaluate plans of care for children from admission through to discharge within a team-nursing environment.
• Identify any deterioration in a patient/client condition and escalate concerns to the appropriate person.
• Undertake delegated observations and take appropriate action when readings fall outside of acceptable ranges.
• Participate as a team member during acute emergencies: supporting relatives and friends of patients/clients together with providing support for other patients.
• Provide some play & distraction activities for children undergoing nursing or medical procedures.
