Technical Underwriting Lead

Join a progressive insurance organisation as a Technical Underwriting Lead, taking ownership of technical governance, risk selection and pricing across multiple lines to support profitable growth and long-term performance. Location Guernsey , Channel Islands Duties for this role include, but are not limited to: Underwriting complex personal and commercial risks and acting as a senior referral point. Developing and maintaining underwriting, product, and pricing guidelines. Liaising with capacity providers and insurers to maintain strong partnerships. Monitoring portfolio performance and producing technical analysis and recommendations. Overseeing delegated authority arrangements and audit processes. Reviewing policy wordings and ensuring compliance with legislation and internal controls. Providing training, mentoring, and technical support to the underwriting team. Supporting the development of new products and pricing structures aligned with market trends. Skills / Qualifications The ideal candidate will have significant experience in underwriting across personal and commercial lines with a strong technical background and decision-making authority. A relevant professional qualification such as ACII (or substantial progress toward it) is highly desirable. They will combine strategic thinking with practical delivery skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Experience in pricing governance, product management or portfolio performance would be advantageous.
