Freelance are seeking a Workshop Controller to oversee the day-to-day operation of a busy workshop. The role is responsible for planning workloads, allocating resources efficiently, and ensuring work is completed to the required quality, safety, and customer service standards. This is a key operational role, requiring strong coordination skills, technical understanding, and the ability to manage people and processes effectively. Key Responsibilities: Plan and control workshop workloads to maximise efficiency and productivity Allocate jobs to technicians based on skill level, availability, and job priority Monitor job progress and ensure work is completed within agreed timescales Liaise with service advisors, parts departments, and management to ensure smooth workflow Ensure all work is carried out in line with company standards, health & safety regulations, and manufacturer guidelines Identify delays or issues and take corrective action where required Maintain accurate workshop records, job cards, and system updates Support and motivate workshop staff, addressing performance or operational issues as needed Contribute to continuous improvement of workshop processes and efficiency Skills and Experience Required: Proven experience in a workshop control, supervisory, or senior technician role Strong understanding of workshop operations and repair processes Excellent organisational and time management skills Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment Good communication skills, both written and verbal Confident using workshop management or job control systems A proactive and problem-solving approach Relevant technical qualifications (desirable but not essential) Training: Full training will be provided to ensure your success in the role.
