Our client seeks a skilled Paralegal to join their legal team. This role requires providing essential support to senior lawyers, ensuring they maintain a high standard of service for clients. The position involves engaging with a range of legal matters, contributing to both client relations and the professional standards of the firm. The ideal candidate will promote effective document management, assist with court preparations, and partake in the overall growth of the legal department. This position may require attending client meetings and court hearings, where accurate note-taking and document preparation will be crucial. The individual should stay abreast of legal developments and actively contribute to the firm’s business development initiatives. Job Duties Collaborate with senior lawyers to create a clear plan for each legal matter and ensure adherence to that plan. Formulate and maintain a ‘blue book’ for all legal matters. Conduct legal and document research. Assist with disclosure tasks and manage document filing (both hardcopy and electronic). Prepare court bundles and assist with case conduct procedures. Attend client conferences and court hearings as required, producing accurate notes and typed summaries. Draft essential legal documents such as chronologies, dramatis personae, witness statements, correspondence, and simple pleadings. Job Requirements Strong academic background with a degree (or equivalent), preferably with a 2:1 or above. Completion or progression towards the BPTC or LPC, with previous experience in a legal setting. Good working knowledge of Jersey law and legal procedures. A thorough understanding of civil and criminal procedures is advantageous. Proven ability in legal research and the drafting of legal documents. Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English. Flexible working approach with high initiative and motivation. Strong organisational and time-management skills, able to work efficiently under pressure. Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards within the legal profession. IT literate with effective interpersonal skills.
