Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Manager to lead the financial planning, analysis, and control of Capital Expenditure (Capex) and designated Operating Expenditure (Opex) lines across the business. This full-time role, requiring 37.5 hours per week, is critical in supporting business decision-making by delivering high-quality financial analysis and insights. The successful candidate will oversee both Capex processes and offer insightful commercial support regarding Capital and Operating Expenditure. Responsibilities include working with project managers on Tier-1 capital programmes, managing the Capex portfolio budget, and ensuring robust gate reviews and decision packs. The candidate will also take ownership of designated Opex lines such as IT and rents, contributing to accurate month-end reporting and cross-functional spend reviews. Furthermore, the role encompasses acting as a finance business partner to influential stakeholders, leading performance reviews, and maintaining strong financial governance throughout Capex and Opex cycles. Job Duties Sit on Tier-1 capital programmes as the finance lead, collaborating with project managers to scope and deliver value. Own the Capex portfolio budget, forecast, and cashflow phasing; challenge assumptions and run scenario analysis. Assist in the development of and pressure-test business cases, ensuring clear KPIs and benefits ownership. Drive benefits realisation through post-implementation reviews for Tier-1 projects. Lead month-end Capex accounting, ensuring ledger and fixed asset register integrity. Manage designated Opex lines, ensuring accurate month-end processes and forecasts. Conduct cross-functional spend reviews and produce analyses to identify optimisation opportunities. Partner with Procurement to support supplier negotiations and quantify savings. Generate ad hoc reporting and dashboards for Capex and Opex performance. Provide timely, accurate submissions to Group with variance commentary and insights. Maintain strong financial governance, ensuring audit readiness and compliance. Own the Capex pipeline, benefits register, and savings tracker with necessary documentation. Job Requirements Professional accounting qualification and membership of a recognised professional accounting body, or working towards it with significant hands-on experience. High level of systems, IT, and Excel skills. Strong project and time management skills. Self-motivated, organised, and able to work as part of a team. Proficient in analysing and interpreting financial information for non-financial individuals. Energy and enthusiasm with strong leadership and communication skills. Desirable experience in the telecoms or technology sector and familiarity with accounting software.
