Collas Crill Bermuda Limited are seeking a candidate for the role of Legal Assistant, this is an exciting opportunity to join our litigation and dispute resolution team. - Prepare a wide range of Court documents and register with the appropriate Court as necessary, adhering to strict Court deadlines;
- Photocopy and prepare routine trial documents;
- Maintain court diaries and agenda and progress ongoing matters. Ensure that matters are filed with the Court in a timely fashion and that the appropriate individuals are aware of requirements and timescales;
- Carry out searches in relation to a wide range of legal matters;
- Draft a wide variety of routine documents and correspondence in relation to litigation matters;
- Undertake legal research in relation to ongoing matters;
- Attend to clients and provide support in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm's standards for client care;
- Develop and maintain strong professional working relationships with Court staff, Officers, other lawyers and clerks from other firms, and other professionals as required;
- The collection/delivery of papers to/from Court and other organizations;
- Occasional service of documents;
- Matter opening and closing to include all scanning and filing for Intapp and DMS;
- Reviewing client ID and raising any CDD concerns with fee earners;
- Administration for the team including scanning, filing, document retrieval and copying;
- Supporting fee earners with creating and keeping current precedents and knowhow;
- Assisting with general team administration and organization (including managing diaries);
- Assisting with the department's invoicing;
- Ensuring the confidentiality of the firm's and client's documentation and information.
We are keen to see applications from candidates who have proven experience with preparing court filings, have impeccable attention to detail, and are able to act quickly on urgent filings and lawyer requests.
Candidates should be proactive, organised and able to handle the admin side of a small but growing legal practice. They will be able to work under pressure and time constraints, deal with filing and service of court and regulatory filings (sometimes on a very urgent basis), as well as have a good telephone manner.
