Apprentice Mechanic

We are recruiting for an Apprentice Mechanic to work on heavy plant and vehicles, to join our busy team. You will be working alongside experienced technicians and receiving training on site, combined with one day per week at college to gain your formal qualifications. Island Waste is part of the Guernsey Recycling Group (GRG). GRG is a leading recycling and waste management company, proudly helping local businesses and households to recycle as much as possible. We operate a range of operational activities within a fleet and garage environment. This includes undertaking a wide range of mechanical maintenance and repair services to vehicles, plant, and equipment. We have a large fleet of Dustcarts and Skip lorries along with mobile and static plant, so the work is varied. Assisting senior mechanics with servicing, repairs, and diagnostics Learning to inspect, maintain, and repair a wide range of vehicles Using tools and equipment safely and correctly Maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment Attending college one day per week to complete your apprenticeship coursework Applicants must live in Guernsey and hold a valid right to work in Guernsey. No accommodation is provided with this role. GRG offers an employment package, with benefits for this role including: 21 days annual leave increasing with length of service. A Secondary Pension is offered upon successful completion of a probation period. Health Insurance is offered upon successful completion of a probation period. Hours are based on 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 07.00am - 15.30pm, with some overtime when required.
