Freelance are seeking a Workshop Controller to oversee the day-to-day operation of a busy workshop. The role is responsible for planning workloads, allocating resources efficiently, and ensuring work is completed to the required quality, safety, and customer service standards. This is a key operational role, requiring strong coordination skills, technical understanding, and the ability to manage people and processes effectively. Key Responsibilities • Plan and control workshop workloads to maximise efficiency and productivity • Allocate jobs to technicians based on skill level, availability, and job priority • Monitor job progress and ensure work is completed within agreed timescales • Liaise with service advisors, parts departments, and management to ensure smooth workflow • Ensure all work is carried out in line with company standards, health & safety regulations, and manufacturer guidelines • Identify delays or issues and take corrective action where required • Maintain accurate workshop records, job cards, and system updates • Support and motivate workshop staff, addressing performance or operational issues as needed • Contribute to continuous improvement of workshop processes and efficiency Skills and Experience Required • Proven experience in a workshop control, supervisory, or senior technician role • Strong understanding of workshop operations and repair processes • Excellent organisational and time management skills • Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment • Good communication skills, both written and verbal • Confident using workshop management or job control systems • A proactive and problem-solving approach • Relevant technical qualifications (desirable but not essential) Training: • Full training will be provided to ensure your success in the role.
