Summary: Opportunity to manage a meaningful local Guernsey charity, which educates and supports additional needs youth of the whole Island. This role is required for the day-to-day management of 'The Charity' and implement the charities activities as directed by the Board. Main Responsibilities: Initial duties will include, but will not be limited to: • Oversight of the completion of building works relating to the installation of cabins • Liaise with building contractors and advisors in respect of the forecasted expenditure plan • Establish a booking system for the cabins and liaise with primary users to develop an initial plan for bookings from April 2026 • Selecting, purchasing and installing appropriate internal furnishings and equipment so that the cabins are ready to use Ongoing duties will include, but will not be limited to: • Oversight and awareness of the financial situation, management and performance of 'The Charity' • Day-to- day care & maintenance of the properties and land of 'The Charity' • Day-to- day care & maintenance of the equipment of 'The Charity' • Liaising with The States of Guernsey Education Dept for the running of The Village premises. • Determine and monitor/update a continuity plan for the Warden. • Continual dialogue with Youth organisations on the Island (and further afield) to make sure the site has maximum and meaningful utilisation • Be part of 'The Charity's' fundraising activities. Make yourself available to present 'The Charity' to potential and existing benefactors. • Be part of The Board of 'The Charity' • Prepared to present to the Board the financial and operational activities of 'The Charity'. • A pro-active approach to suggest new ideas/innovation/process change to deliver for the Charity JOB DESCRIPTION The Village at Le Murier Know-How/Competency Requirements • Good listening, oral and literacy skills. • Ability to organize time and work to deadlines. • Practical management and caretaking skills to keep The Village and its associated land in good working order • Record keeping, information retrieval and dissemination of data/documentation to the Board and relevant parties. • While there are no formal qualifications required for The Warden, the Board needs to satisfy themselves that the person has the skills and resources to perform these duties. Compensation/Structure (all subject to mutual agreement for right candidate / experience) • Salary dependant on experience • 22 hrs per week • Flexible working times Summary of 'The Village at Le Murier': A unique facility for Guernsey providing real support to an area of the community most in need. 'The Village' Will Include: • Village Hall: A building with a classroom, workroom, and commercial kitchen for practical learning. • Village Cabins: Four log cabins for 8 students and 1 staff each, including one fully accessible cabin. • Village Campsite: A lightweight camping area for activities like Duke of Edinburgh's Award expeditions. • Village Woodland & Wetland: A space for environmental education and exploration. • Village Farm: Students will care for chickens, grow vegetables and fruit, and engage with cattle, sheep, and goats on loan. Includes a pond for aquatic learning and beehives to study pollinators. The Village offers hands-on learning to build essential life skills and foster a connection to nature.
