Head of Risk & Compliance - Captive Insurance (Guernsey) Aon Insurance Managers in Guernsey is seeking an experienced Head of Risk & Compliance to join the team. The purpose of the role is to take overall responsibility for the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Risk & Compliance framework for AIMG, and other Aon group companies based in Guernsey and their respective client entities; and ensure this framework satisfies all applicable Guernsey regulatory requirements and Aon Group policies, standards and risk appetite. This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Guernsey office (the successful candidate will reside full-time in Guernsey). What the day will look like You will be the most senior Risk & Compliance lead in Guernsey for Aon Insurance Managers, with specific responsibility for financial crime, regulatory compliance, conduct risk and operational risk across AIMG and its client entities. MLRO for Aon Guernsey and client companies Act as registered Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for Aon Guernsey and designated client companies. Receive and assess internal suspicious activity reports, ensuring timely external reporting and managing the relationship with the Financial Intelligence Service (‘FIS’) and law enforcement. Oversee and periodically test the effectiveness of AML / CFT and sanctions policies, systems and controls, providing clear guidance to boards and staff. Head of Risk & Compliance / Corporate Compliance Services Act as Risk and Compliance Officer for AIMG and, where appointed, for client companies. Serve as primary contact for the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (‘GFSC’), handling regulatory notifications, thematic reviews and onsite inspections. Lead the provision of risk and compliance services (including AML / CFT) to AIMG and client entities, ensuring compliance with the GFSC Handbook and local legislation. Maintain key compliance registers and produce concise, board-ready reporting on risk, compliance and regulatory developments. Attend AIMG and client board meetings, providing independent challenge and practical Risk & Compliance advice. For Aon Guernsey companies only Manage the compliance relationship with GCT and support delivery of other governance functions as required (e.g. company secretarial oversight). Chair the Risk & Compliance Committee and the Business Approval Committee, ensuring a risk-based and commercially aware approach to new business and key decisions. Lead and develop the local Risk & Compliance team, including work allocation, day-to-day supervision, objective setting and appraisals. Provide Risk & Compliance training to staff and directors and actively promote a strong risk and compliance culture. Aon Group Act as the primary Risk & Compliance contact in Guernsey, working closely with ACIM GHRC and ACIM GCT on global objectives and escalation of material issues. Provide timely and accurate Risk & Compliance reporting to ACIM GCT / ACIM GHRC / Aon Corporate Compliance as required. Work with the Guernsey management team to achieve ACIM Risk & Compliance objectives in line with the ACIM Risk Appetite Statement. Understand ACIM and Aon Corporate Compliance policies, ensure their local implementation and provide training / briefings to AIMG employees as necessary. Undertake such other responsibilities as the Managing Director may request from time to time, consistent with the seniority and purpose of the role. Skills and experience that will lead to success Compliance qualification (e.g. issued by the International Compliance Association or similar) – essential. Financial Crime related qualification – essential (e.g. AML / CFT, sanctions or broader financial crime). Proven senior experience as a compliance, risk or financial crime leader within the Financial Services and/or Insurance industry, ideally within a Guernsey regulated environment. Captive insurance experience – highly desirable. Demonstrable experience operating as MLRO or in a senior financial crime function, including SAR management and regulator / law enforcement engagement. Board experience – previous director-level appointment(s) or regular board-facing role – essential, with the ability to provide independent challenge and clear advice. Strong knowledge of Guernsey regulatory requirements (including the GFSC Handbook and the Guernsey AML / CFT regime) and their practical application. Proven ability to lead and develop a specialist team, build strong relationships with regulators and senior stakeholders, and produce clear, concise board-level reporting.
