Role / Department: We are seeking a Senior Trust Officer that will provide high quality service to a multi-billion dollar book of fiduciary clients within the Global Family Office Team. The role touches all elements of finance including banking, fiduciary, custody and funds. The Global Family Office Team provide fiduciary services to some of the wealthiest families around the globe, with the fiduciary team administering trusts, companies, foundations, PTCs and PCC structures. The families we look after are strategic clients of Northern Trusts and we service around twenty client relationships, with a focus on bespoke high touch Fiduciary services. Our clients are typically billed on a fixed fee-based fee structure, meaning no hourly billing and timesheets to maintain! Key Responsibilities and Duties: Work on a mixed portfolio of company and trust structures on behalf of clients, engaging with internal partners, tax/legal advisors and investment managers to provide excellent client service. Exhibit developing knowledge of fiduciary duties, standards and practices with the ability to apply fiduciary knowledge and judgement. Work collaboratively with internal partners and external advisors in identifying client needs and balancing client expectations with appropriate fiduciary risk management and diligence. Prepare/execute minutes and resolutions as required. Execute all necessary authorised documentation and payments. Work alongside the Senior Manager and designated Relationship Manager on day-to-day client activity. Review of financial statements. Be a point of client contact in relation to the fiduciary entities on their portfolio. Plan and attend client and advisor meetings. Authorised signatory. Ensure that client structures adhere to relevant regulatory requirements. Ensure that all decision making is accurately and appropriately documented, and client records and filings are accurate and in accordance with any relevant regulations. Understand and comply with internal policies, processes and procedures to effect prudent risk management and judgment. Recognise fiduciary risk issues and seek the appropriate resolution. Proactively work within the fiduciary team and internal partners to help identify areas for improvement and growth. Consult with other Northern Trust fiduciary teams to gain consistency of service where appropriate. Point of contact for service related issues. Maintain all documentation/files as appropriate to each client relationship. The successful candidate will benefit from: A continued development of industry knowledge to ensure up to date fiduciary best practice and understanding. Understanding of regulatory requirements and changes for both Guernsey and other offshore jurisdictions. Highly professional approach to work and client interactions, especially with regards to privacy of information. STEP or ICSA Qualification (preferable). Direct experience in interacting with demanding clients or prospects and meeting their needs. Applicants must have good written and verbal communication skills, good numeracy, computer skills and a positive 'can-do’ attitude. Candidates must be initiative-taking and have excellent time management skills. Excellent organizational skills and comfort in prioritizing competing demands Ability to perform under pressure and to be flexible with working when required. On the job training is provided via internal courses, on-line training, external conferences and relevant professional qualification assistance.
