Role/ Department: Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting (FR) in Guernsey, the Financial Reporting team is responsible for preparing annual statutory accounts and interim financial reports for Northern Trust’s fiduciary and fund client base. These reports are produced in accordance with UK GAAP, IFRS, or other relevant accounting standards and include managing the audit process for a diverse range of entities—such as companies, trusts, and limited partnerships—registered across multiple jurisdictions. The FR team is a team of 10 qualified accountants based in Guernsey with 5 focused on the Funds portfolio and 5 on the fiduciary client portfolio. Supporting the team in Guernsey is a team of 4 in Manila. This Senior Accountant role will primarily focus on the asset owner segment of fiduciary client portfolio. The Fiduciary client base comprises two key segments: Asset Owners – A multi-billion-dollar portfolio of pension trusts, endowments, and corporate entities representing Northern Trust’s strategic institutional clients. Global Family Office – High-net-worth individuals and family office clients with complex, bespoke requirements. The key responsibilities of the role include: Maintenance of accounting system records, including bank reconciliations and accruals accounting. Process is semi-automated and involves clearing exceptions. Preparation and Review of financial reporting for client entities including Trusts and Companies, in accordance with best practice, relevant reporting standards and professional and regulatory requirements and on a timely basis. Liaison with relationship and account managers to ensure all key accounting activity has been captured and accounted for appropriately in accord with FRS102 / IFRS or relevant accounting standards. Coordination of the audit process (if necessary) Client Contact point, including potential annual travel to visit client in Saudi Arabia Assisting in the preparation and completion of ta and regulatory filings Skills/ Qualifications: The successful candidate will benefit from having: Excellent IT skills – Excel to advanced level, including pivot tables / Word / Teams Thorough knowledge of accounting standards (FRS102 / IFRS) and Guernsey Trust / Company Law. Experience in preparing accounts in a fiduciary / financial services environment. Experience of preparing accounts for consolidated groups (100% owned, with 100+ subsidiaries) would be an advantage.
