Alexander Daniels Offshore is working with a business based in Guernsey to recruit a Deputy Legal Counsel.
Responsibilities:
- To provide accurate and timely support to the Legal Counsel in a variety of legal fields, including the handling of litigation and/or regulatory matters.
- To understand and apply all relevant legislation, regulations, directives and the company’s Memorandum and Articles of Incorporation.
- To support the Legal Counsel to specify and draft internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance.
- To assist with research and evaluation of different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations.
- Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s legal rights are adequately protected.
- Communicate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust.
- To act as advisor on procedural and technical matters concerning company owned/leased land or property, and in relation to wayleaves, conveyances and the like.
- To assist the Legal Counsel in his capacity as Data Protection Officer and to advise on data protection matters affecting the business.
Skills and Experience:
- A legal professional with proven experience in a business environment.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of Guernsey company and data protection law and a good understanding of relevant local legislation, regulations and directives.
- A good understanding of States of Guernsey policies, practices, framework and other documents, which might impact or influence the company’s structure, strategy or operations.
- A good understanding of UK company law
