Temporary Data Scientist – Risk and Operations Division, Guernsey

Our client is seeking a Data Scientist for an 18-month fixed-term contract to support the Risk and Operations Division. This role will contribute to a Project aimed at leveraging innovative technology to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the authorisations process. Key Responsibilities • Support the development and implementation of an analytics-led approach to risk-based supervision. • Work with divisional representatives to identify, develop, and test innovative tools to enhance regulatory processes. • Query and analyse data from relational databases, ensuring data quality and understanding data models. • Apply Machine Learning techniques, including Natural Language Processing, Optimisation, and Cognitive Computing, to solve regulatory challenges. • Analyse complex digital data to generate insights and support decision-making. • Design and implement data visualisation dashboards using tools • Provide technical support and guidance on the development of digital tools for risk-based supervision. • Collaborate with third-party contractors and internal stakeholders at all levels. • Develop and maintain production-grade code in Python, R, and SQL. • Prepare and present findings, demonstrations, and training sessions to project stakeholders. What You Need • Experience in data science, analytics, or a related field. • Strong technical skills in Python, R, and SQL, with experience in database querying and data manipulation. • Knowledge of Machine Learning and data-driven decision-making. • Ability to interpret and present complex data to a non-technical audience. • Strong problem-solving skills with a keen interest in financial services and innovation. • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams. • Experience with data visualisation tools (Power BI, R Shiny) is advantageous. • Exposure to risk-based supervision, regulatory technology, or financial services is beneficial.
