Join a dedicated and progressive clinical team delivering specialist eye care services to the Bailiwick community. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior ophthalmic nurse to lead a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals, supporting the development and delivery of high-quality, evidence-based ophthalmic care. The role is well suited to an experienced Band 6 practitioner looking to step into a leadership position, or an established Band 7 nurse with ophthalmology expertise seeking a new challenge within a cohesive and forward-thinking healthcare setting. Duties for this role include, but are not limited to: • Leading and managing the ophthalmology nursing and clinical support team, including nurses, HCAs, technicians and optometrists. • Overseeing and supporting diagnostic investigations including OCT, corneal topography, fundus photography, biometry, and fluorescein angiography. • Assisting with clinics and procedures across a range of subspecialties including retinal services and minor ops. • Contributing to the strategic direction of the department in collaboration with the wider outpatient leadership team. • Managing clinical governance responsibilities including audits, service evaluation, and complaints handling. • Coordinating departmental rotas, workforce planning and training for new and existing staff. • Acting as the departmental superuser for ophthalmic systems and supporting EPR integration. • Representing the organisation at meetings with internal and external healthcare stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have: The successful candidate will be a registered nurse with the NMC and possess at least five years' post-registration experience, including three years at Band 6 level within ophthalmology. A proven track record of leadership, staff development and service improvement is essential. The role requires a candidate with excellent clinical knowledge, outstanding organisational ability, and the communication skills to inspire a multi-disciplinary team. Experience with Medisight or similar ophthalmic systems and a recognised ophthalmic qualification are highly desirable. A non-medical prescribing qualification or willingness to obtain one is also advantageous.
