Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 04 March 2019

### MONDAY

WEATHER

A very windy morning commute, with a force 6 WNW’ly in most places, and a force 7 in exposure. On top of that, we shall have some very gusty and heavy showers in the area. For the return trip, in the afternoon, the showers should be fewer and further between us though wind might even be a touch stronger.

SURF AND TIDES

Maybe one for the windsurfers, but way too chaotic for the surface. I should just forget about this one. As for the tides, low water will be 2.5m at 11:40am, high water will be 8.1m at 5:40pm.

TUESDAY

WEATHER

We will probably catch some more heavy showers on the morning commute, but the rest of the day should see a gradual improvement in terms of both wind and weather. Winds will be force 5-6 SW’ly at first, backing to a force 5 S’ly in the afternoon. The top temp should be 10-11C, which should be about a degree up on Monday.

SURF AND TIDES

Anybody who's read that wind forecast has probably already sussed that it's going to be a great afternoon on the west coast (and maybe the north too). West Coast waves should be about 8 feet and clean. Low water will be 1.9m at 12:20pm, high water will be 8.5m at 6:20pm.

WEDNESDAY

WEATHER

Ewww, wet and windy again. The timing of the rain is uncertain, but there are a whole load of weather fronts scheduled to cross the islands, so I don't think the sun is going to get much of a look in. Winds will be about force 5 to 6 S’ly, so great for surfing again…

SURF AND TIDES

5-6 feet and clean on the west coast, especially first and last thing. Tides will be high at 6:40am and 7:20pm, both roughly 8.9m.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY

No real change in the strength of the wind, but we will see a directional change to gusty and showery WSW’ly on Thursday, and then a drier WNW’ly on Friday. This will allow cool air to come over the islands, so I doubt we shall exceed 9C on either of these days. Head to town for the most comfortable conditions. I wouldn't advise a brolly in windy weather, but a hood would certainly be sensible on Thursday. That said, there should be some pleasant sunny intervals in between the passing showers. So if you time it right, a walk around a sheltered area like Fermain, could be surprisingly lovely.

THE WEEKEND

I could cut and paste the above paragraph but that would look silly. Basically, Friday's ridge of high pressure will give way to another low on Saturday, followed by another ridge on Sunday. And so the pattern continues of alternating wet days and dry days with strong winds throughout, and temperatures very close to the climatic average for early March.

The next forecast update will be next weekend.
