Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Wednesday 13/11/2019

Wednesday

Weather

Winds will back to a moderate WSW’ly and showers will remain brief and infrequent until mid- afternoon. After that, the sunny spells will be replace by cloudy skies, winds will strengthen to a force 6 SSW’ly and rain will set in for the evening. Later in the night, the persistent rain will be replaced by occasional showers, but they are likely to be heavy, with hail and maybe some thunder. Expect big puddles and maybe some minor flooding in places.

Surf and Tide

Maybe some good west-coast surf at the end of the day, probably about 2-4 feet and clean. Big tides… highs of about 9.2m at 6:50am and 7pm.

Thursday

Weather

Winds will drop right off to a very light W’ly, which will be a bit of a relief in itself. However, there will be some heavy and slow moving hail showers around. It will be a bit hit and miss, whether we catch them or not, but we could be in for another thorough soaking.

Surf and Tide

An epic day, with clean 8-foot waves on the west coast, and maybe some 2-4 footers on the north. Big tides again… 9.2m high at 7:20am and 1.8m low at 1:40pm.

Friday

Weather

Another day of heavy showers that might miss us but will probably hit us. This time we won't have the pleasure of light winds though. Rather we will have a fresh to strong (and very chilly) NE’ly. The showers won't be the only way to get soaked, watch out for the splashy high tide during the morning rush-hour along the east coast.

Surf and Tide

Possibly some great waves at Petit Port mid-morning. Hopefully some clean 3-footers before the swell dies away. Big tides again… 9.1m high at 7:50am and 2m low at 2:10pm.

The Weekend

Saturday will just have a small change from Friday, with winds backing to a moderate NW’ly. Sunday will then see winds veer E’ly. The uncertainty about frequency of showers will continue through both days. However, if we are treated to any dryness and sunshine, then Saturday will clearly be a south-coast day and Sunday a wet-coast day. If you are going surfing, then the best session should be through late morning and lunchtime on Sunday, when the west coast should enjoy a clean 2-3 foot swell.

Next Week

With small low-pressure systems coming and going over southern parts of the UK, the winds will vary greatly from day to day, but I'm afraid coldness and wetness will be the themes throughout. No doubt there will be plenty of sunny intervals but we will have to wait until closer to the time for any certainty about them.

The next forecast update should be ready on Thursday evening.
