Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Monday 18/11/2019

Monday

Weather

Sunshine and showers to start the week. The showers will fall mainly in the morning and they won't be very heavy (more like those of the weekend than those of last week). The afternoon should see the best of the sunshine, but the force 3-4 N’ly wind will keep the air on the cool side. Head to the sheltered south coast to feel most comfortable. The views should be fantastic too, because cool air nearly always means great visibility.

Surf and Tide

The tides are getting much smaller this week, which always give us more options in the surf. Not too much on offer on this day though; winds might be light enough at dawn for a decent 2-foot west-coast wave but that’s about all. As for the tides; 8.1m for the high at 8:40am and 2.9m for the low at 4:10pm.

Tuesday

Weather

Overnight, the wind will have fallen light and variable, possibly allowing a brief ground frost to form. However, by morning rush hour, a force 3-4 SSE’ly wind will be firmly in place, and then this wind will increase to force 5 by late afternoon. This means it’s going to feel pretty chilly to say the least. With sunshine really struggling to penetrate thick layers of high-cloud, temperatures certainly won't be any higher than on Monday (10C). As for rainfall, it's probably going to be dry until well after midnight.

Surf and Tide

The wind direction is dreamy and the swell is picking up to about 4-feet in the late afternoon. The only trouble is, it's going to be low tide then, so we might just have to wait until Wednesday to enjoy it. High water 7.7m at 10:40am, low water 3.3m at 5:10pm.

Wednesday

Weather

Fresh to strong SE’ly winds will accentuate the chilly feeling. Only a few inland or southwestern areas will benefit from any shelter. Skies will be even more cloudy than on Tuesday, with a few light showers likely. Some great surf on the cards though, see below…

Surf and Tide

Clean as a whistle 6-8 foot waves on the west-coast. It really really doesn't get much better than this for surfers, especially with the small tide sharing the waves throughout the day… 7.4m high at precisely midday.

Thursday and Friday

Two more days of perfect surf, slightly smaller though (5-6 feet on Thursday and 3-4 feet on Friday). As for the weather, well it looks as though Thursday will be another cloudy and showery day, but Friday probably drier, sunnier and finally a teeny bit milder. Temperatures should finally breach the 10C threshold, possibly peaking as high as 12C.

The Weekend

Saturday looks just as nice as Friday, but with the SE’ly breeze probably easing off, it should feel even more pleasant. Then on Sunday, winds look set to veer SSW’ly, probably leading to thicker cloud and eventually some rain. Despite that however, temperatures could climb as high as 13-14C for the first time in ages!

The next forecast update should be ready on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.
