Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Friday 22/11/2019

Friday

Weather

Well it's a shame that this is the first chance I've had to update the forecast, because it isn't looking nearly as rosy as previously expected. We still have the fresh to strong SE’ly wind, but unfortunately much less in the way of sunshine and more in the way of rain. The rain will be a bit showery, but unfortunately it could be rather heavy and it will be a threat throughout the morning and again from mid-afternoon onwards. So jackets will definitely be required for travelling to and from work/school, but you might just get to enjoy a relatively nice and dry lunchbreak. Temperatures will be pretty steady; 8-9C by night, 10-11C by day.

Surf and Tide

Smaller surf but still fantastic in the grand scheme. 3-4 feet and clean, probably best late morning on the beaches and lunchtime on the reefs. Low water will be about 3.2m at 8:50am. High water will be about 8m at 2:40pm.

Saturday

Weather

The forecast for this day hasn't changed too much, with low pressure giving us a risk of drizzly showers all morning, perhaps with some mist and murk. The afternoon looks a little more promising though, with dryness prevailing and a slim chance of some sunshine breaking through. Winds only light to moderate; S’ly in the daytime, veering W’ly in the evening. Temperatures peaking at a mild 12C.

Surf and Tide

Maybe seize the moment in the late afternoon, because that seems to be the only chance of a clean rideable wave at Vazon. Low water will be about 2.7m at 9:50am. High water will be about 8.6m at 3:50pm

Sunday

Weather

After a misty, murky and showery start, it's actually looking rather pleasant at times during the day, hopefully with some brief sunshine. Increasingly cloudy towards dusk though, with rain setting in during the evening. At the same time, it will also be getting much windier, as the moderate SSW’ly of the daytime is replaced by a strong SSE’ly. Temperatures staying on the mild side, with a max of 12-13C and a min of 10C.

Surf and Tide

Looking really good for the afternoon, with a stack of clean 4-5 foot waves pushing in on the relatively large tide. Low water will be about 1.9m at 10:40am. High water will be about 9m at 4:40pm.

Next Week

Mild, wet and windy for most of the time on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, with Tuesday currently looking to be the most unsettled and unpleasant. (Some very high spring tides too). For Thursday and Friday, it's looking much drier and sunnier, but I'm afraid the temperature will be taking a bit of a dive as we get stuck in a N’ly airflow. At this time of year, the loveliest weather is usually also the coldest I'm afraid, but as long as you keep your hats and gloves at the ready, then there is no reason that you can't enjoy it.

The next forecast update should be on Sunday evening.
