Wednesday
Weather
A real improver of a day, with breakfast time looking much the same as Tuesday… force 4-5 WSW’ly wind, cloudy skies and drizzly showers. By lunchtime the wind will force 3-4 and the skies partly sunny. Then, by dinnertime, the skies will be even sunnier and the breeze will just be force 3, making it the first decent barbecue evening in quite a long while. Max temp 18°C.
Surf and the Water
The 4-5 foot surf will be a little messy in the morning but increasingly clean through the afternoon and evening. Swimming conditions will also improve, with the best moment probably being low tide in the late afternoon (4:15pm). Hight tides will be 8.8m at 10am and 8.9m at 10:10pm.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
After a starry night, we should be in for a sunny day most likely. The only slight threat to this would be some banks of sea fog to the west. However, it’s unlikely that they will make inroads to the Island, due to the wind being a light force 3 SE’ly, so probably keeping it firmly on the western horizon. By Friday, dry and warm French air will have gobbled up any kind of cloud or sea fog. Thus leaving us with blazing sunshine and potential record-breaking May warmth. The most likely max temps being 21-23°C on Thursday and 26-27°C on Friday.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be super-clean… starting Thursday around 4-5 feet and finishing the day around 3 feet, and then holding steady at 2-3 feet throughout Friday. Swimming conditions will be best in the west and north. Thursday’s tides will be 8.3m high at 10:45am and the low at 5pm. Friday’s tides will be 7.8m high at 11:40am and the low at 6pm.
The Weekend
Weather
Two more sunny days, but with the wind backing to a straight E’ly and increasing from force 3-4 on Saturday to force 4-5 on Sunday. Thus these two days will likely be warm like Thursday rather than hot like Friday. The west coast (just under the sea walls) will be the most comfortable place to hang out. Most likely max temps 24°C on Saturday and 22°C on Sunday.
Surf and the Water
Clean 2-3 foot surf on Saturday, then 1-2 feet surf with a much more difficult wind on Sunday. Tides will be high at lunchtime (7.3m and 7.1m respectively), so that’s when it will be best for west-coast or south-coast sea-swims. Low tides will be around breakfast time and dinnertime.
Next Week
Weather
Sunny and warm in the first half of the week, possibly leading to a thunderstorm or two on Wednesday, before turning cooler (but still mostly sunny) on Thursday and Friday. Temperatures likely peaking low twenties Monday and Tuesday, then in the high teens on Wednesday and then the mid to low teens on subsequent days.
Surf and the Water
The surf will vary between 1-2 feet on the smallest days and 3 feet on the biggest… cleanest Monday to Wednesday, messy and barely surfable on the subsequent days. Tides will be low in the mornings and high tides will move day by day from the mid-afternoons to the early evenings… increasing incrementally from 7.1m to 8.2m.
The next forecast update will be on Friday…
