Wednesday
Weather
Strong to gale force winds, SW’ly at first then W’ly later. Heavy, possibly thundery, showers coming and going throughout. As you would expect with such foul weather, the seas will also be very rough, and the air pressure will be low enough to notably raise the sea level. When you factor in the largest tides of this month then this really really isn't a great combination. On this occasion the east coast will not have much to worry about but the West Coast will certainly get messy in all the usual areas. See the tide times below, and best avoid the most vulnerable areas for at least an hour either side of both highs.
Surf and Tide
The surf will be a lot messier than on Tuesday unfortunately, but we could still luck in to some decent waves at Pembroke all being well. High water, about 10m at 6:40am and 9.8m at 7pm. Low water, about 1.4m at 1pm (stormy conditions have already been factored into these tide heights).
Thursday
Weather
Will still be showers and sunny intervals, so the weather won't be too different from Wednesday. However, things should feel much more relaxed, as the wind eases to just a force 3-4 WNW’ly. With this in mind, this will be one of the nicer days of this week (even though temperatures will only peak at 11-12C) and the most comfortable places to enjoy it will be along the east coast and in a couple of nooks along the south coast.
Surf and Tide
Surf-wise, these winds will make all areas rather choppy, with 8 feet of strong swell remaining from Wednesdays gales, it will certainly be worth heading out there for some fun. High water, about 9.7m at 7:40am. Low water, about 1.3m at 1:20m.
Friday
Weather
Definitely the sunniest and the prettiest day of the week, but these fine conditions will come as the wind switches to a force 3-4 NE’ly, bringing a distinctly chilly feel to the islands. Temperatures will only peek at 9-10C. The only areas that you might want to take your jacket off, will be along the south coast, where you will be fully exposed to the sunshine and the cliffs should act as a decent wind-break.
Surf and Tide.
High water, about 9.3m at 8am. Low water, about 1.5m at 2:30pm. just as for the weather, you should also head south to find the best surf. I'd recommend Petit port mid-morning and Petit Bot late morning, for the best chance of some clean 2-3 footers.
The Weekend
You could've betted that it wouldn't last for long eh. Yes indeed, the foul weather is expected to return for Saturday, followed by a marginally more pleasant day on Sunday. This weekend straddles the last day of November and the first day of December, meaning (and you might be surprised to hear that this didn't start months ago) that we will be officially in meteorological winter.
Next Week
It's currently looking remarkably settled actually! With high pressure nearby throughout the week. Slight movements in position of the high will affect the wind direction and strength, spelling the difference between such things as frosty nights and morning mist. However, we can be pretty sure that it's going to be colder than this week, but also much drier and probably much sunnier.
The next forecast update should be on Thursday evening.
