Friday
Weather
Cloudy with showers in the morning, gradually becoming drier and brighter through the day, as the wind veers from a gentle N’ly to a moderate E’ly. Temperatures will only just make it to 10 or 11C but it should feel much nicer than the past couple of days, thanks to the wind reduction. It’s going to get blowy again overnight though, with winds veering to a strong force 6 SE’ly by Saturday morning.
Surf and Tide
Some lovely west-coast waves during the mid to late morning; 3 feet and clean. Fun fun fun! So grab it if you can. High water wil be about 9.3m at 8am. Low water will be about 1.5m at 2:30pm.
Saturday
Weather
Make the most of the morning, because that looks like the only dry time. However, even that will be somewhat spoiled by the very strong and chilly ESE’ly wind. Take care if you’re driving. The east coast will be very splashy around the morning high tide, later in the day the puddles will get pretty large all over the island, and there are bound to be a few more branches brought down in the wooded areas.
Surf and Tide
Super-clean west-coast waves during the mid to late morning again, but this time they will be smaller (1-2 feet) and really struggling against the strong offshore wind. High water will be about 9m at 8:40am. Low water will be about 2m at 3pm.
Sunday
Weather
Kind of the reverse of Saturday, with the rain at the start of the day but probably dry by lunchtime. Strong NE’ly winds throughout the day though, so it’s going to feel really chilly again.
Surf and Tide
Strong NE’ly winds aren’t really clean anywhere except Petit Port, so if you like your novelty waves then it could be worth trotting down the steps, potentially for some 2-3 footers in the late morning. Alternatively, there might just have been enough wind by late afternoon, for a fun onshore session at Pembroke. High water will be about 8.5m at 9:10am. Low water will be about 2.5m at 3:40pm.
Next Week
Ahhh that’s better, and it’s certainly been a long time coming... High pressure and sunshine! And plenty of it through Monday and Tuesday. The whole week is looking nice and dry, with winds falling very light. However, from Wednesday onwards, it’s very uncertain whether we shall hang on to the sunshine or trap a layer of cloud over the islands. Either way, it’s going to be a lovely rest from the recent turbulence. Enjoy!
The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening.
