Monday
Weather
I don't know if anybody ever does the washing on a Sunday, but would you have believed that you could actually dry it on a washing line. It seems like such a long time since we could last do that. Anyway, there will be another opportunity on Monday, as we enjoy bone dry, partly-sunny conditions and a force 3 NE’ly breeze. If you're heading out for a good walk, then your best bet will be the south coast on this day. Max temps 9-10C.
Surf and Tide.
2 feet and getting steadily cleaner, as the wind starts to ease. However, Medium-small tidal range will be high at about 10am and low at about 4pm.
Tuesday
Weather
Apart from a wind shift to a gentle SE’ly, this day will be virtually the same as Monday. In other words, some long-awaited and much-deserved winter gorgeousness. All parts of the island should be about as gorgeous as eachother, but the west and north coasts will probably be the cream of the crop.
Surf and Tide
Probably a really nice full day of clean 1-2 foot waves, perhaps even 3 feet in the afternoon if we’re lucky. Just a tiny tidal range too, with a 7.3m high at 10:30am and a 3.4m low at 5:10pm.
Wednesday
Weather
Probably a cloudier day, but still bone-dry and with barely any wind it's really not going to be too bad in the grand scheme. Probably no more than 7C for the max though.
Surf and Tide.
Hopefully a great day of pristine 4-foot surf and tiny tidal movements… high water just 6.9m at 11:20am.
Thursday and Friday
Thursday should be pretty unchanged from Wednesday, although the wind might increase at some point, as it backs to a W’ly direction, ahead of a change of weather on Friday. Yes, it looks as though our next low-pressure system and soggy weather front will sweep through before we get as far as the weekend. Friday’s winds could be as strong as force 6, but they will be from a SW’ly direction so the air should become much milder. Hopefully lifting us as high as 11C, despite things generally being rather grey and drizzly.
The Weekend
From Friday’s downturn, it looks as though we will be going through an alternating pattern of wet days and dry days, as ridges of high-pressure trade places with transient Atlantic lows. When is well with January from the W, backing towards the S on the damp days and veering towards the north on the sunny ones. Temperatures therefore staying around 9-11C every day.
The next forecast update should be on Wednesday evening.
