Friday
Weather
Gale force WNW’ly winds, occasionally almost as strong as when storm Atiyah was in town. Don't be surprised to see similar tree damage around the island and some very large waves at sea. Take particular care if driving along the west coast at dawn. Aside from the wind, we should have a few squally showers in the morning and a longer spell of more drizzly rain in the evening. Otherwise it should be dry and reasonably bright.
Surf and Tide
The surf will be a hideous mess all day, but it might still be of interest to the hardiest of windsurfers. The highs will be about 9.3m at 7am and 9.1m at 7:20pm.
Saturday
Weather
Force 7 W’ly winds and a few brief stingy showers. Otherwise, it's looking dry and bright, so head to a very sheltered area, such as Fermain, if you want to salvage some comfortable outdoor time.
Surf and Tide
Big and messy surf again, with some more very splashy high tides along the west coast. Tide heights will be the same as on Friday; firstly at 7:30am and secondly at 8pm.
Sunday
Weather
Weather-wise it's almost identical a to Saturday. In their words, bright and mostly dry but with just the odd fleeting shower. The wind might be marginally less strong, generally a force 6 rather than a force 7. The other slight change will be in terms if direction, because this time the wind should be SW’ly, making the west and north coast feel much more pleasant in places.
Surf and Tide
Much cleaner surf, still in the very large category; 10+ feet on the west coast and hopefully about 4-6 feet on the north. Tides 9.2m high at 8:10am and 1.9m low at 2:40pm.
Monday and Tuesday
The winds are looking like a pleasant break from the norm, as they become gentle or moderate and back to a SE’ly direction. This is going to lovely for surfers in particular. As for the weather, there will be a very slow moving band of rain in the Channel. It could be overhead or it could be just a few miles away. Either way it's going to be cloudy, but what is hardest to predict is whether it will be totally wet or totally dry.
The Rest of Next Week
Fresh low pressure systems will move in and out of the area. This will make for very changeable winds and most likely a lot of rain. These lows will all be quite small-scale, so they are not likely to become particularly vigorous (although I say this with fairly low confidence). Furthermore, they will only draw air from sources that are relatively close to home, so temperatures probably won't deviate very much from the seasonal average.
The next forecast update should be on Sunday evening.
