Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Monday 16/12/2019

Monday

Weather

Light breezes all day, now there's a treat, even if it is going to be a bit cloudy and damp. The rain will tend to be light and patchy during daylight and then a bit heavier after dusk. The best chance of any prolonged dryness will be in the morning.

Surf and Tide

An amazing day of surf, when the tide permits. 8 feet and clean on the west coast (especially in the morning) and hopefully 3-4 feet on the north coast. Tides; 8.9m high at 9am and 2m low at 3:20pm.

Tuesday

Weather

The winds will be gentle again, probably starting off as a SE’ly like Monday, but soon becoming variable and mainly SW’ly in direction. This means that whatever weather is overhead, is probably going to be staying there for the bulk of the day, and unfortunately that weather is currently looking like rain. The best chance dryness will probably be around dusk and then through the night.

Wednesday

Weather

Dry and bright, with a moderate breeze from the SSE. The chance of a shower during the daytime is almost too remote to mention, so you can probably hang your washing out with confidence. However, don't forget to bring it in by the evening, because that's when the next dose of patchy rain will arrive.

Surf and Tide

Only 2 feet but impeccably clean. Should be a classic day for longborders. Tides; 8.2m high at 10:40am and 2.6m low at 5:10pm.

Thursday and Friday

The patchy rain of Wednesday night will stick around throughout Thursday, as the wind will barely budge from its SSE’ly direction. The air will be very mild, but it won't feel too special because the wind will be fresh to strong, and therefore give it a bit of a chill. On Friday, it currently looks as though we are in for a dose of much heavier rain as well as a change of wind, because a small scale depression is due to drift right over our heads. Take this Forecast with a pinch of salt though, because at this range, we can't be too sure of the precise position of that depression, so that foul weather might just turn out to be somebody else's problem.

The Weekend

The detail is as unclear as you would expect at this range, but suffice to say that it's looking pretty unsettled, with winds moderate to strong, ranging in direction between S’ly and NW’ly, either side of the passing rain-bands.

The next forecast update should be on Tuesday evening.
