BH MONDAY
WEATHER With a lot of high and medium level cloud, compared to yesterday, I'm in quite a lot of doubt that we will get the 10 hours of sunshine that we need today, in order to break the sunshine record for any Easter weekend. In terms of heat, it will probably be marginally cooler than yesterday, peaking between 18and 19C. Still pretty lovely though, and with winds from the SE rather than the NE, it will make the long stretch of western and northern beaches much better for most activities.
SURF AND TIDES About 2-3 feet and gorgeously clean during the morning, then again from early evening. Low water will be 1m at 3:50pm. The highs will be over 9.3m at 9:20m and then at 9:40pm.
TUESDAY
WEATHER If anything, just a tad cloudier than BH Monday, but still mild and pleasant, with a force 3-4 E’ly breeze and a top temp of about 17C. If we didn't manage to catch a thundery shower on Monday night (brewed up over France) then the chances on Tuesday evening are probably even higher, so keep an eye and an ear out for that.
SURF AND TIDES Only 1-2 feet at best, but gorgeously clean, with tides really forcing the best session into the morning and the evening again. High water will be 8.9m at 10am. Low will be 1.6m at 4:20pm.
WEDNESDAY
WEATHER The likelihood of showers will keep on rising, (throughout the day, not just the evening) but there will still be lots of dry time and a few sunny intervals. Winds will be S’ly in the morning, veering SW’ly later, as an Atlantic low pressure system nudges ever closer, with its slightly cooler air and less settled weather. 15C is likely to be the top temp in most places. However, Town will finally be on the sheltered side of the island, so there is a good chance of 16C+ there.
SURF AND TIDES 3-4 feet and clean during the morning (shortboarders should pounce on that one); dropping off to 2 feet later. High water will be 8.3m at 10:30am. Low will be 2.4 at 4:50pm.
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY With virtually no change from Wednesday, we shall carry on playing dodgeball with the showers. Therefore I have to point out that, by Friday evening, there is a chance that we will have had a bone-dry week, and there is also a chance that we will have racked up 20mm or more of rainfall. However, the most likely scenario is that we will have had just the odd brief downpour (quite possibly overnight) whilst 95% of the week will have been dry and pleasant. Temperatures should be pretty much average, so I'm expecting daily maxima of 13-14C (maybe 15C in Town) and nightly minima of about 9C.
THE WEEKEND The chances of at least half a day of persistent rain (rather than isolated showers) looks pretty high for the coming weekend. This is due to low pressure becoming well established over the UK and weather fronts generally being more potent and lively. However, the timing, at this range, is far too uncertain to pin down. Winds are likely to be stronger (still mainly SW’ly) and the seas are likely to be quite a bit rougher. So, that's a bit sickly for sailors but potentially quite exciting for surfers, especially considering the very small tides (tiny highs at lunchtimes).
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday.
