Wednesday
Weather
A strong to gale force WNW’ly wind will bring another day of blustery hail showers (mainly in the morning). Temperatures will only get up to 8°C despite there being lots of bright sunshine between the showers. Overnight the wind will back to a S’ly direction, ushering in a prolonged spell of rain and much milder air, so it's not going to feel nearly as cold as the night before.
Surf and Tide
Very messy waves, except perhaps down at Petit Bot between the tides. The spring tides continue, nothing too dramatic but I shall focus on the highs… 9.1m at 8:20am and 8.8m at 8:30pm.
Thursday
Weather
The overnight rain and mild air will soon clear eastwards, leaving us with a strong NW’ly airflow and a mix of sunny spells and isolated showers. The most sheltered areas for a good walk will be Town and Fermain, closely followed by Moulin Huet, Saints Bay and Petit Bot. Max temp 9°C.
Surf and Tide
Another day when the novelty waves of Petit Bot could be the only clean surf available (pictures of that would be very welcome please). The tide will swing between a high of 9m at 8:40am and a low of 1.9m at 3pm.
Friday
Weather
And like a see-saw that wind will revert to a soggy SW’ly, squeezing out all hopes of sunshine but actually raising the temperature to 11 or 12°C. Expect some pretty large puddles by the end of the day.
Surf and Tide
Yay, some clean waves for the west coast again. Most likely about 4-6 feet and best during the morning. As for the tides, they will swing between a high of 8.7m at 9:10am and a low of 2.3m at 3:30pm.
The Weekend
Two very wet days, with winds alternating between SW’ly and W’ly as the various weather fronts sweep through. The only real difference between the days is that the winds will probably be gale force on Saturday, and just a strong force 6-7 on Sunday. Although that detail could easily change.
Next Week
It looks as though the majority of next week will be almost as unsettled as this week, although we might see less in the way of persistent rain, and just see sunshine and isolated heavy showers, as we lock into a chilly NW’ly for most days. There's an increasing signal fir high pressure to establish itself during the weekend though (7th & 8th March). That's a long way off, so it's typically uncertain, but it is offering some faint light at the end of the tunnel.
The next forecast update should be with you on Thursday evening.
