Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Monday 09/03/2020

Monday

Weather

Monday morning will be like all the good bits of Sunday, because Sunday really wasn't too bad in between those heavy showers. Monday afternoon will be increasingly cloudy though, and Then very wet by dusk and through much of the night. In addition to that, we could have the problem of hill-fog causing a little travel disruption in the last few hours of the day.

Surf and Tide

With winds veering SSW’ly in the late afternoon, we are in for some lovely clean west-coast waves just before dusk. Wave heights likely to be 6-8 feet, so it should be briefly classic. Big tides around the full moon, roughly 9.4m high at 6:10am and 6:40pm.

Tuesday

Weather

Monday’s murk will linger right through most of Tuesday. Probably not as wet but likely just as misty and foggy. Not much chance of seeing any sunshine all day, but nonetheless, the strong WSW’ly will bring mild enough air to hold temperatures at a steady 11-12°C.

Surf and Tide

The waves will be slightly smaller and messier, but certainly still worth a bash in the early morning and the late afternoon. Bigger tides again, 9.9m high at 7am then 0.4m low at 1:30pm.

Wednesday

Weather.

Not a lot of change in the wind direction although it might get a little lighter. However, the murky air should have all move through by mid morning, with clearer drier air following in behind. There could be the odd shower at times, but we are probably looking at a mostly sunny day.

Surf and Tide

Waves 4-6 feet and fairly clean. The tides even bigger than on Tuesday; 10.2m high at 7:40am then 0.2m low at 2:10pm.

Thursday and Friday

Sunshine and showers on Thursday, with fresh to strong W’ly winds, then on Friday, we should say goodbye to the showers as a ridge of high pressure moves in and the wind veers to a moderate WNWly.

The Weekend

The timings are bound to be a bit uncertain at this long range. However, with Friday's ridge being very short lived and low pressure coming and going again over the weekend. The most likely scenario is that both days will be foul for one half and fine for the other. Temperatures staying on the mild side of average. Winds alternating between SW’ly and WNW’ly, but never getting especially strong. The tidal range steadily becoming normal again.

The next forecast update should be with you on Tuesday evening.
