Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Saturday 14/03/2020

Saturday

Weather.

Definitely the better day of the weekend, with just a few light showers along with a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine a light to moderate WSW’ly breeze. The temperature should peak at a comfortable 11°C in most areas, but we shall probably notch up to a balmy 12°C in Town.

Surf and Tide

Waves 3-5 feet and reasonably clean on the west coast. The tides gradually becoming more normal, with a high of about 9.2m high at 9:40am, then low water will be about 1.4m low at 4:10pm.

Sunday

Weather

Cloudy all day, unless we see the briefest glimpse of sunshine in the morning The main event will be the band of rather heavy rain that will saunter through, bringing a few hours of wetness, on and off between noon and late evening. Prior to that, it will be dry but the SSW’ly wind will be at least strong force 6, so it's not going to feel nearly as comfortable as Saturday.

Surf and Tide

Lovely clean 3-foot surf at Vazon in the morning. A little choppier in the afternoon, but the tide will probably be too low then anyway. High will be about 8.5m high at 10:20am, then low water will be about 2.3m low at 4:40pm.

Monday to Wednesday

Dryness, sunshine and pleasantly average temperatures are looking pretty rock solid right now. The main uncertainty is the wind. Not the strength, that's looking light or moderate, so very pleasant and spring-like in that respect. It's the direction that will make a difference. If we are on the southern flank of the high pressure system then we will get an E’ly, so maybe a notch warmer by day and colder by night. If the high centre lies to the south of us and we end up with a W’ly breeze, then it will still be pleasant but the temperature variation will be much smaller (and the surf won't be quite as nice either).

the Rest of Next Week

It's a tug of war between half the longer-range models that are forecasting dryness and sunshine (maybe even for another 7-10 days) and the other half of the longer-range models that are predicting occasional weak weather fronts, bringing cloudier days with spells light rain. In either case, it looks as though the second half of March will be much less troublesome than the first half (at least in terms of weather).

The next forecast update should be with you on Sunday evening.
