Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 01 May 2019

Ash Ford-Parker

WEDNESDAY

WEATHER A comfortable enough day, due to the very light breeze. However, it will be a bit of a come-down from Tuesday, with cloudy skies throughout, and a morning of occasional light showers, turning into and afternoon of more persistent drizzly rain. Temperatures will only peak at about 12C, which will be about 4 degrees cooler than Tuesday was.

SURF AND TIDES Waves 2 feet and clean. Tides; 2.7m low at 11:30am and 7.7m high at 5:40pm.

THURSDAY

WEATHER Although, the foul weather will have cleared eastwards, the cool air will be stuck with us, and a force 4NW’ly breeze will have arrived in the night. Dray and mostly sunny during the day though; just a few further showers overnight into Friday. To make the most of the sunny spells, head to one of the sheltered southeast facing beaches; namely Petit Bot, Saints, Moulin Huet or Fermain.

SURF AND TIDES Waves smally and sloppy. Tides; 2.2m, low just after midday, and roughly 8m high around 6am and 6pm.

FRIDAY

WEATHER Almost the same as Thursday, with slight lighter NW’ly winds but virtually identical temperatures (peaking at 11C). Just remember to head to those sheltered beaches, especially around lunchtime, whilst the tide is low.

SURF AND TIDES Waves small and sloppy again. Tides; 1.8m, low at 12:50pm, and roughly 8.5m high at 6:30am and 6:50pm.

BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND Gorgeously sunny and dry on all three days. However, there will be a real difference in temperatures, with a gentle NE’ly wind bringing the coldest air to Saturday and Sunday (10-11C max temps), and then a new SE’ly airflow making Monday feel much more pleasant (peaking at about 13-14C). On the water, the tides will be fairly large every day, and the surf will be about 2-3 feet. Monday is certainly looking like the best day for surfing, especially in the late morning and in the late afternoon

NEXT WEEK Temperatures will continue to peak in the low teens on most days. Winds will be light on Tuesday and Thursday, with skies mostly bright or sunny. Unfortunately however, Wednesday and Friday will punctuate the pleasantness with strong S’ly or SW’ly winds and quite a lot of the wet stuff.

My next forecast update will be on Thursday night.
