Saturday
Weather.
Whilst the last couple of days have only had thin cloud, still allowing plenty of hazy sunshine, Saturday's cloud will be much more grey and gloomy. This, combined with a strong force 6 NE'ly wind will really make it feel rather cold. The daytime temperature will only peak at about 9°C, but the wind chill will make it feel more like 3 or 4°. Overnight, the actual temperature will drop to about 4 or 5°C and if you really want to go out for a walk then you’ll have to deal with a feels-like temperature of less than zero.
Surf and Tide
High water will be about 8.5m at 8:40am, then low water will be 1.8m at 3pm. Those of you who are keen to spend a little bit of exercise time in the surf, will have to start looking to Pembroke for a rideable wave, albeit very messy in the onshore wind. (The later you leave it, the bigger the waves).
Sunday
Weather
Much like Saturday, sunshine will be rather limited, with cloudy spells and the strong to gale force NE'ly wind being the dominant features. The cloud could be thick enough to produce some showers, most likely in the late afternoon and evening. Some of these showers could be a little bit sleety, due to the cold origin of the air, but you would have to go the high ground of Normandy to find the nearest bit of snow.
Surf and Tide,
With an even stronger NE’ly wind than Saturday, those choppy Pembroke waves should have even more to offer. But only with a decent set of hood and gloves. The best waves will probably be close to high water (8.1m at 10:10am). Low water will be 2.2m at 4:20pm.
Next Week
Although it won't be quite as strong as on Sunday, you are really going to get fed up of this cold NNE'ly wind. It probably won't be until Thursday or Friday that it begins to fall light and variable, thanks to the large Atlantic high-pressure system drifting eastwards, to be centred over the UK. During the windy first half of the week there will be a constant risk of showers developing in the Dover Strait and streaming towards the islands. Hopefully, as things settle down in the latter part of the week, then we should see a return to clear sky and sunshine.
Next Weekend
It's a long way off, so the forecast is far from certain, but it's currently looking lovely, as we hang on to dry and sunny weather, but with a SE’ly wind bringing much warmer air to the islands. Furthermore, it looks as though the west-coast surf could be really great too.
My next forecast update should be with you on Monday evening. Until then, have fun and stay safe.
