Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Monday 06/04/2020

Monday

Weather.

Sunday night’s showers should have cleared away by dawn, but there is a slim chance that one or two of them could linger into the morning. Either way, most of the cloud should have cleared by lunchtime, leaving us with another gorgeous afternoon. Coming from the west, the air will certainly be less warm than on Sunday (only peeking at about 13°C in most parts and 14C in Town), but the breeze will be so gentle that it will probably feel just as pleasant.

Surf and Tide

The 3-4 foot waves will be reasonably clean because the onshore wind will be quite gentle. The tidal movements are getting pretty large now, around the full moon. High water will be about 8.7m at 6am and 8.9m at 6:30pm.

Tuesday

Weather

Totally dry, and just as warm as on Monday, even though the Sky will be rather cloudy all day. This time we will just have a light E’ly breeze, so everywhere should feel gorgeous but the west coast will probably be the cream of the crop (by a whisker).

Surf and Tide

Beautifully clean surf all day; 4-5 feet in the morning, 2-3 feet by late afternoon. Bigger tides again, with highs of about 9.3m at 6:50am and 9.7m at 7:20pm.

Wednesday

Weather

A much sunnier day to Tuesday, but little else to add, except perhaps that the potential for sunburn is equivalent to that of August, with the UV index at the high end of 5 (bordering on 6). Great for stimulating your vitamin D production, but not at the expense of your skin please. So dig out that sun cream and slap plenty of it on.

Surf and Tide

Super-clean surf and massive tides again. Just 1-2 feet for the waves, so it's going be one for big boards and little people. As for the tides, both highs will be about 9.8m, firstly at 7:40am and secondly at 8pm.

Thursday and Friday

Another couple of stinkers as they say down under. In other words, warm enough to get you pretty sweaty (a natural aide to social distancing). Temperatures should peak at 16°C in most parts and maybe even hit 17 in the sheltered west. Winds will continue to come from the east or southeast, generally light or moderate in strength.

The Weekend

Perhaps an increase in cloud and a touch more strength in the SE’ly breeze. However, this will be balanced by the warmth of the air that is imported all the way from Spain and beyond. Temperatures should continue to peak in the mid to high teens, depending on quite how extensive the cloud becomes. There's a chance that it could be thick enough for showers by the end of Sunday.

My next forecast update should be with you on Tuesday evening. Until then, have fun and stay safe. GWF
