FRIDAY
WEATHER Dry, with occasional sunshine. An improving day, as the wind gradually decreases, not really making the temperatures any higher than yesterday, but generally feeling more comfortable. Yesterday's max was 12-13C, so that's what we are looking at again. The wind will only be a force 3 NW’ly, dropping off to force 2 during the day. If you want to eliminate the wind altogether, then head to Town, Fermain, Moulin Huet, Saints or Petit Bot. Overnight, the trend will be in reverse, as winds slowly crank up to force 5 and cloud and rain move in towards dawn Saturday.
SURF AND TIDES Not a great day for surf, but it could be reasonably clean whilst the onshore winds fall light. Waves 1 foot. Tides; low at 12:50m, highs roughly 8.5m at 6:30am and 6:50pm.
SATURDAY
WEATHER Cloud and rain, along with rather strong N’ly winds during the morning. However, the wind will veer NE’ly in the afternoon and cool sunshine will prevail. The south coast will certainly be the best place to make the most of it, especially down all those steps at Petit Port. Max temps only 10-11C, making it the chilliest day of the week.
SURF AND TIDES Another very poor surf day, except perhaps for some clean kiddy-sized ripples at Petit Port, mid morning and late afternoon. Tides, Low water will be at 1:30pm. High will be a little under 9m at 7:10m and 7:30pm.
SUNDAY
WEATHER Ahh that's better, sunshine and light winds. All areas very comfortable, even though temperatures will only be about one degree up on Saturday (Perhaps not even that).
SURF AND TIDES Reasonably clean 1-3 foot waves on the west coast, during the morning and the again from late afternoon. Tides, Low water will be at 2:10pm. High will be about 9m at 7:50m and 8pm.
BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY
WEATHER High cloud will make the sunshine hazier and more muted then on Sunday. However very slightly warmer air will waft over the islands on an almost imperceptible SE’ly breeze, possibly lifting the temperatures as high as 12-13C. So, not a patch on the last bank holiday, but I'm sure you'll agree that it's a million times better than some from previous years.
SURF AND TIDES Waves perhaps a bit smaller than on Sunday, but probably even cleaner. The best moments will probably be dawn, late morning and early evening. Tides a little over 9m at 8:20am and 8:40pm. Low at 2:40pm.
NEXT WEEK Certainly a bit milder than the BH weekend, with daily maxima of about 14C and nightly minima of about 10C. Low pressure will be in charge though, meaning that there will be showers or longer spells of rain on most days (but with some sunny intervals too). Winds will be mostly S’ly or SW’ly and occasionally as strong as force 6. That's good news for windsurfers, and the wave surfers shouldn't do badly either, with waves picking up to about 4-6 feet at times. .
The next forecast update will be on Sunday.
