Thursday
Weather
Probably the warmest day of this week, with temperatures getting close to (but not quite reaching 20°C). This is thanks to the wind backing to a SE’ly direction and importing pre-heated French air. It won't actually be as sunny as the previous day, but it should be bright enough. During the morning, there will be a slim chance of catching a shower, but they will be rather sparsely scattered, so the greater likelihood is that we will stay dry all day.
Surf and Tide
Hopefully some clean 1-2 foot waves, although Wednesday didn't really deliver what was promised. The tides are pretty tiny, so any time of day should be good for a surf. High water will be at lunchtime, with plenty of dry sand remaining on the beaches.
Friday
Weather
Similar to Thursday, but with more cloud there is a much greater chance of a heavy shower, especially in the morning (possibly with thunder) It's going to feel fairly warm again in the gentle SE’ly breeze, but the max temp probably won't be quite as high as Thursday.
Surf and Tide
Probably 1-2 feet and clean (which would certainly be better than nothing). However! There are hints from the wave models that a few 3-footers could sneak through, especially during the morning. Tiny tides again, with high water in the early afternoon.
The Weekend
Both days are looking dry but there will certainly be a difference in terms of sunshine and temperature. Saturday is looking warm and sunny with just a hint of a Sly breeze; the temperature probably peeking at about 16°C. Sunday is looking much cloudier, with relatively cool air arriving on a N’ly breeze, leaving us with a mere 13°C for the max. If you're going for a surf or a sea swim then it's a west-coast day on Saturday, with some small long-boarders waves possible. As for Sunday, then the best option will be just the briefest of south-coast dips.
Next Week
Apart from the wet Monday, it looks as though we are in for another mostly dry week, with a pretty even mix of cloud and sunshine. Temperatures around average for late April, due to the wind being a moderate or fresh NE’ly through the bulk of the period, meaning that the air temperature will always be fairly close to the sea temperature. The new moon will bring spring tides through the week, but they will only be modest, with the highs never quite reaching 9m.
My next forecast update should be with you on Saturday. Until then, have fun and stay safe. GWF
