Sunday
Weather
A cloudier and windier day than Saturday, all leading to a lower max temp, probably just 14°C. It should be totally dry and occasionally quite sunny, but there is going to be some mist and fog rattling around the Channel in the morning, so there’s a high chance that this could briefly affect the islands.
Surf and Tide
When it’s as flat as this, then there’s a slim chance you could push an 8yo kid onto the wave of their life, but for most of us it will be all about swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding (or simply staying dry). Low water 2.6m at 11:40am. High water 7.7m at 5:40pm.
Monday
Weather
It’s not a dead cert, but there could well be some heavy showers on this day. The bulk of these will be over Brittany, so the most vulnerable Channel island will certainly be Jersey, but the Bailiwick might also cop a few. At the very least, it’s going to be a cloudy one with fresh to strong ENE’ly wind, so the 13°C max relly isn’t going to feel too special.
Surf and Tide
Just a chance of some rideable 1-2 foot waves on the push of the afternoon tide. Low water will be around midday and the highs around 6am and 6pm (slightly over 8m).
Tuesday
Weather
A totally dry day and a really good one for drying a few wash-loads. A totally dry day and a really good one for drying a few wash-loads. Much more sunshine than on Monday, but with very little respite in that fresh to strong ENE’ly wind it isn’t going to feel very warm at all. The max temp just 13°C again.
Surf and Tide
Oh yes, now we’re talking, powerful 4-6 foot waves. Cleanest first thing in the morning, when the wind direction will be more of an E’ly rather than a NE’ly. As for the tides; low water will be around 1pm and the highs around 7am and 7pm (roughly 8.5m).
Wednesday to Friday
Mostly sunny and increasingly warm, as the winds fall lighter and lighter. Pretty much calm by Friday, with temperatures peaking well into the high teens. Good surf every day. The NE’ly or N’ly breeze light enough that the larger west-coast waves shouldn’t be choppy. The smaller south-coast surf will be much cleaner of course, but it's very fickle down there, so skillful/lucky timing will be the key.
Next Weekend
The usual long-range uncertainty applies, but it currently looks as though very warm and sunny weather should come up from the south on Saturday, probably leading to a cloudier Sunday, followed by a showery (possibly thundery) breakdown on Sunday night.
The next Forecast update should be with you on Tuesday evening.
