Monday
Weather
It's going to be a bit of a hazy sunshine sandwich, with an afternoon of fine weather brought on dry and mild E’ly breeze. The rather more crusty bits, that come before and after the nice soft sunshine, are a morning of mist and fog (much like on Sunday) and then some heavy thundery rain overnight. Lightning lovers, we could be in for a treat. However, it's really uncertain whether or not the rumbles and flashes will start during the evening, around midnight or perhaps even early Tuesday morning. Keep an eye on the Channel Islands radar imagery towards dusk, to see if anything fruity is approaching.from the south-west.
Surf and Tide
Perhaps the best day of the week for waves. Nice clean 2-4 footers without too much tidal movement. Low water will be about 2m at i1:10pm. High water will be about 8.2m at 5:10pm.
Tuesday
Weather
With the uncertainty around the onset of the thundery rain on Monday night, it is also uncertain at what time it will clear off on Tuesday. Therefore, be prepared for the morning to be soaking wet, but it might be a pleasant surprise to see that everything has already passed. Either way, I think we are in for a dry and bright afternoon, that should have a very similar feel to the pleasant afternoon that preceded it. One thing I didn't mention, associated with that thundery rain. Is that the easterly wind will become very strong during this period (force 6 possibly 7). However, that is also set to ease significantly during Tuesday afternoon.
Surf and Tide.
Just 2 feet this time, but still lovely and clean. Those tides are getting BIG though, with highs of 8.7m and 8.9m at 5:30am and 6:10pm respectively.
Wednesday
Weather
A lovely sunny day for the most part. Perhaps a little cloudy during the late afternoon and evening, with the threat of a brief shower or two. However, that detail is uncertain at the moment and the temperature should climb nicely into the high teens.
Surf and Tide
Just a foot or two if we are lucky, but clean and ideal for young kids to learn on. The large tidal range will make life awkward though, keeping sessions very short, preferably whilst the tides is about 3/4 high. The tops of the tide being at 6:20am and 6:50pm (9.2m and 9.4m respectively). Low water being about 0.9m at 12:50pm.
Thursday and Friday
Both days are set to be lovely and warm with plenty of sunshine and just a gentle E’ly breeze. The max temps only a degree or two shy of 20C. The west coast should really be.the cream of the crop, but be aware that the tidal range will be pretty whopping, with very low lows around lunchtime and very high highs around breakfast and dinner time.
The Weekend
It currently looks as though the heat of the previous days will break down with some heavy thundery showers becoming widespread over France and pushing northwards to the UK. It's far from certain at this early stage, but there is the potential for one or both days to be at least as wet as Monday night/Tuesday morning (5-15mm of rain i.e. big puddles). The best chance of fine weather is on Saturday, in the hope that the showers arrive in the night time or perhaps not even until Sunday. Keep an eye the updates.
My next forecast update should be on either Tuesday or Wednesday.
