Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 06 May 2019

James Barker

BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY

WEATHER High cloud will make the sunshine hazier and more muted then on Sunday. However very slightly warmer air will waft over the islands on a very gentle SW’ly breeze, lifting temperatures about a degree higher than on Sunday, to peak at12C. So, not nearly as warm as the bank holiday a few weeks back, but I'm sure you'll agree that it's a million times better than some from previous years.

SURF AND TIDES Waves a bit smaller than on Sunday, but probably even cleaner. The best moments will probably be dawn, late morning and early evening. Tides a little over 9m at 8:20am and 8:40pm. Low at 2:40pm.

TUESDAY

WEATHER Perhaps some hazy sunshine will filter through the thickening high cloud durning the morning. It will struggle in the afternoon though, when a few showers will work their way northward from France. We might well cop a few spits and spots curing that time, but it will be around sunset when we start to get a much more thorough soaking, as a very active weather-front crawls slowly across the Channel.

SURF AND TIDES A very small surf day, almost flat except perhaps for some clean kiddy-sized ripples at Vazon late morning and early evening. Tides, Low water will be at 3:10pm. Highs all the 9s, almost bang on 9m at 9am and 9pm.

WEDNESDAY

WEATHER After the persistent overnight rain has cleared, we should be left with a mostly sunny day, if rather breezes and still punctuated by the odd fleeting shower. Much like the previous day, we are probably looking at a 13C max. However, we might just go a little higher in Town.

SURF AND TIDES Waves all a bit ragged during the day, but showing a marked improvement in the early evening, when some pretty clean 4-5 footers start to roll into Portinfer and Vazon. Tides, Low water will be at 3:50pm. High will be a 8.8m at 9:30am and 9:50pm.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY Bright and breezy on both days, with showers tending to concentrate themselves over the larger land-masses nearby. However we might well cop a few brief splashes in the early morning and late evenings. Winds; force 5 WNW’ly on Thursday, and force 4 SW’ly on Friday. Temperature peaking at about 13C in Town.

THE WEEKEND Settling down somewhat, even if not warming up that much. Both days should be dry and beautifully sunny. The wind detail will really be the difference between the two days. Saturday with a chilly force 4 N’ly (head to the south coast to make the most if that) and then lighter E’ly breezes on Sunday ( which will really favour the west coast). .

The next forecast update will be on Tuesday evening.
