Monday
weather
A dry and mostly bright day although quite a lot of cloud at too. To be honest it won't really make any difference to the temperature or the general feel of things, because the overwhelming factor will be the strong to Gale force NE'ly wind. Few places will offer any shelter, but if you really want to go for a run or a walk, then the south coast beaches and cliff paths have got to be the zone of choice. Wrap up warm when you head out. The top temperature will only be about 10 or 11°C and the windchill will make it feel as if it's only 3 or 4°.
Surf and Tide
After a full night of howling NE’ly winds, Pembroke is going to be the obvious place to find a really fun (if very messy) shorebreak. Any state of the tide is going to feel pretty much the same in the water. However, carrying your board in that kind of wind is best kept to a minimum, so the optimum sessions will be pretty close to the high tide (8.9m at 10 am).
Tuesday
weather
In terms of dryness and the cloud/sunshine ratio, it's going to be pretty much the same as on Monday. And there's going to be a bit of give-and-take with the temperature too. With colder air sitting over the islands, the max temperature will be at least a degree lower. However with the NE’ly wind easing off to a much more comfortable force 4-5, the windchill effect will be much smaller.
Surf and Tide
If you want another mess around in the Pembroke shorebreak, then just get in early as possible, because these novelty Channel swells don't generally survive for more than 12-18 hours after the wind slackens off. This time, high water will be just 8.1m at 10:40am.
Wednesday to Friday
After just one day of respite, the howling wind will return. For the remainder of the working week, we will have a fresh force 5 to strong force 6 NE’ly. However, there will be a minuscule amount of day-to-day difference, due to the gradual arrival of slightly milder air, and also a very slow and steady increase in sunshine hours. The max temperature will generally increase by about 1°C per day, until we reach 13 or 14° on Friday.
The Weekend
Another couple of bone dry sunny days, with that old familiar nag of a NE’ly wind. However, the current expectation is that the wind won't pack quite so much punch; most probably just a moderate force 4. There's a good chance that temperatures will be right back where they're supposed to be for mid-May, peaking at about 15°C or possibly even 16° if we are lucky.
The next forecast update should be with you on Tuesday evening.
